Summary

The Zambia 1969 Census included the entire population of the country and was the first comprehensive census conducted in Zambia. In 1968, pilot censuses were conducted in Lusaka, Namwala and Kasama districts. Data collection took place between August 22 and 30, 1969.

Two questionnaires were used: a full form questionnaire was used in all urban areas and a 10% sample of rural areas, and a short form quesitonnaire was used for all enumeration.

Topics covered included household composition, place of birth, fertility, disabilities, occupations, employment, mortality, and education.
