Summary 

The Timor-Leste National Parasite Survey conducted in 2012 assessed the prevalence of lymphatic filariasis, and the prevalence of ascaris, trichuriasis, and hookworm in children ages 7-16. Data for lymphatic filariasis and other diseases were collected through separate methods. For lymphatic filariasis, blood specimens were collected through finger-pricks conducted in coordination with district health program officers, the community, and chiefs. For all other diseaes, fecal specimens were collected from children in grades 3 and 5 in primary schools for testing. A total of 2,164 blood specimens and 2,198 fecal specimens were collected and analyzed.
