Sri Lanka STEPS Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors Survey 2014-2015

The Sri Lanka STEPS Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors Survey 2014-2015 collected data on the prevalence of behavioral and biological risk factors for noncommunicable diseases in Sri Lanka for 2014-2015. The survey also aimed to assess the population's knowledge of selected tobacco control policies. A total of 5,188 respondents ages 18 to 69 living on a particular address for more than 6 months at the moment of the sampling participated.

Data were collected through interviews, physical measurements, and biological measurements. The interviews focused on the participant's behaviors towards tobacco use, alcohol consumption, fruit and vegetable consumption, salt and processed food consumption, and physical activity.The sampling design was multi-stage, consisting of an initial selection of divisional secretariats based on the previous national census, and selection of census blocks followed by identification of households. Only one respondent from each household was selected to participate.
