Summary

The purpose of the New Zealand Health Survey was to update results from the 2014/2015 survey through the collection of health information on adults and children. In addition to the interview, the data collection involved height/weight measurements and waist circumference. For adults, blood pressure was also taken. The survey did not include people living in institutions or prisons, homeless individuals, short-term visitors, or tourists.

A sample size of 13,497 adults and 4,754 children participated in the survey, and included European, Māori, Pacific and Asian ethnic groups. For the area-based sample, meshblocks were used as the primary sampling units.
