Summary

The CCHS surveys individuals age 12 and over living in private dwellings in order to collect data on health surveillance and population health research. Excluded from the sampling frame are individuals living on reserves, institutional residents, full-time members of the Canadian Forces, children in foster care, and residents of certain remote regions. The CCHS covers approximately 97% of the Canadian population aged 12 and over.

Since 2007, CCHS has been an annual survey. Microdata are released annually, and every two years a file combining the full two-year sample is also released.
