Summary

The Burundi Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS) 2012 was conducted by the Burundi Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies and the National Institute of Public Health. The MIS was a household survey designed to collect national and regional data on malaria prevention, control, and treatment.

The questionnaire covered insecticide-treated bednet ownership and knowledge about clinical symptoms and transmission of malaria. In addition to the household and women's questionnaires, blood tests were administered to test for malaria parasitemia and anemia in children under age 5. A total of 4,866 households and 5,149 women ages 15-49 were successfully interviewed.
