Summary

This report provides incidence and mortality tables for new cases, deaths, as well as crude, cumulative, and age standardized rates based on 1996 data from the Tasmanian Cancer Registry. The tables are broken down by sex and 5 year age groups and cancers are coded in ICD-9. The report highlights cervical cancer data from 1978-1997 and provides twenty-year incidence trend analysis for the same period for lung cancer, cutaneous malignant melanoma, prostate and breast cancer, colon cancer, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, cervical and uterine cancer, oesaphageal cancer, and gastric cancer.

Incidence of non-melanocytic skin cancer is not recorded but mortality numbers are provided.

Additional cancer data can be requested from the Tasmanian Cancer Registry.
