The Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) is a rapid survey methodology developed at the International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH). It is a population based survey of visual impairment and eye care services among people aged 50 years and over.

The Argentina - Buenos Aires Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness 2003 covered the entirety of nation. Data were collected through household interviews and visual exainations. Subjects with vision-impairing cataract were questioned on barriers keeping them from pursuing cataract surgery, and subjects that had undergone cataract surgery were asked about their operations. An additional module collected information on willingness to pay for cataract surgery. Of the targeted sample size, 4,302 subjects were interviewed and examined successfully.
