Summary

The Afghanistan National Immunization Coverage Survey conducted in 2013 collected data on the immunization status of children, mothers, and caretakers across all provinces in the country. Mothers and caregivers of children between the ages of 12-23 months were surveyed on the immunization status of the children. Mothers of children between the ages of 0-11 months were interviewed about their tetanus toxoid immunization status.

Data were collected through a household survey. In addition, a key informant from each province was interviewed to collect information on the challenges of improving immunization coverage and expanded immunization programs (EPI). A total of 6,125 children and 6,670 mothers from 1,020 clusters were surveyed.
